Scars are a natural byproduct of skin trauma (such as surgery, burns, acne, and injuries) that heals. Scars cannot be completely eliminated, but they can be significantly lightened, smoothed, and have their texture improved through a variety of methods. The effectiveness of repair depends on the type of scar (superficial scars, hypertrophic scars, atrophic/pitted scars, keloids), the time since formation (new scars within 6 months show better results), and individual factors.

Common Scar Types and Targeted Repair

Superficial scars (mild pigmentation, roughness): can fade naturally over time, or can be treated with low-energy laser.

Hypertrophic scars/keloids (raised, red, itchy): silicone patches/gels, steroid injections, pressure therapy, and laser treatment can be used.

Atrophic/pitted scars (commonly found in acne depressions): fractional laser, microneedling, fillers, incision release (scar release surgery).

Surgical/burn scars: Comprehensive treatment, such as surgical excision + laser therapy.
